Our Activities
Our chapter meets during the day, because that's when moms need support the most. We support your decision to stay home with your children, and are here to provide you with the opportunity to share activities, friendships, and fun with other moms and children. We believe being a mother shouldn't isolate you, so children are welcome at all activities.
Here are just a few of the activities we have on our monthly calendars.
Business Meetings
We meet once a month for a general business meeting. Meetings can include speakers, discussion topics, or a planned activity. Snacks are provided by the members. All club business is discussed at these meetings. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10:00am.
Visitors are invited to attend 2 business meetings before deciding whether to join.
Playgroups
We have aged based playgroups that meet once or twice a month in members homes.
Literary Divas (aka Book Club)
Meets monthly at a member's home to discuss a book that has been picked the month before.
Recipe Exchange
Usually meets once a month. Each month we have a theme such as desserts, afternoon snacks, breakfast foods, holiday treats, etc. Bring copies of your favorite recipe and dish for the theme to share with everyone.
Park Days, Craft Days, etc
We schedule park days every month when the weather permits. This is a great way to get familiar with all the parks our city has to offer. There are also craft days for the kids as well as the moms based on the interests of the members.
Monthly MNO (MOMS Night Out)
This is the one opportunity each month for our moms to get together in the evening and enjoy one another's company. We might go out to dinner at a restaurant, go to a movie or a play, or get together at one another's home.
Local Field Trips
We've gone to local museums, toured the Fire Department and Grocery store.
Coffee Talk/Lunch Bunch
MOMS with kids in school or MOMS with kids get together to have a bite to eat and chat.
The MOMS Club participates in various service projects that benefit women and children in our community. Some past service projects include infant/toddler food drive for the National Children's Advocacy Center, helping build a home with Habitat for Humanity, and making and delivering blankets for the pediatric unit of Huntsville Hospital.
Helping Hands
Helping Hands is a wonderful support network provided by our members for our members. There are many times that we need support, but do want to ask for it. Members provide meals, babysitting, transportation, etc. for another member who is in need. The most common situation is when a member has just had a baby, and we take turns providing a meal for the family. Other situations may include surgery or major illness, loss of a loved one, etc.
Family Events/Holiday Parties
We periodically schedule events on evenings or weekends that include the whole family. We generally celebrate major holidays with a family party, such as an Easter Egg Hunt or Christmas Party.
